Recently, Digicel has updated their prepaid data & minutes bundles. They now offer “Prime Bundles” which offer more data and minutes. However, their prices have climbed as well. With this change, many people may be interested to see what Flow offers since Digicel’s mobile plans may be too far out of budget. So let’s see how Digicel stacks up to Flow in April 2021.

Obviously, money wise, Digicel is not looking good, with their plans adding $6 to $10 to your bill. For most, this is unappealing as 2021 has placed a continuous financial burden on many. However, let’s take a closer look to see why Digi’s mobile plans cost more.

Where is your money going?

Data

Firstly, notice that all of Digicel’s plans offer double the data that Flow offers. This means that if you are someone who avidly uses your browser, YouTube and other apps, Digicel’s higher payment sufficiently covers you need for no more than $10 extra. If data is your concern, Digicel may be a better bet.

Minutes

Similarly, for the 14 Day plan, Digicel offer’s 20 more anywhere minutes. This makes Digicel’s 14 day plan superior to Flow’s based on data and minutes.

On the flip side, Digicel’s 7 Day mobile plan, offers a meager 70 minutes in comparison’s to Flow’s 150 minutes. In the grand scheme of things, Flow and Digicel 7 Day plans balance each other out on minutes to data. The choice is up to you based on what you use more.

Finally, both Flow and Digicel offer 300 minutes on their 30 day plan. Obviously, given that Digicel doubles Flow’s data from 4GB to 8GB, Digicel is a clear winner for only $10 extra!

Mobile Plans: Additional Features

Flow and Digicel offer additional features on your prepaid mobile plans, that are often covered by the funds you pay each month. Let’s see what else you are paying for.

Digicel offers an abundance of apps including SportsMax and Loop News, as well as On Net minutes, unlimited Digi to Digi talk and unlimited SMS on all plans. This is what some of your money covers. If you use a lot of Digicel’s apps to watch sports, listen to music, or you use Bip, it makes sense to take the financial hit and use Digicel’s plans.

On the other hand, if you are more interested in having data ONLY for WhatsApp, Flow’s mobile plans might be the better option. Despite their limit on SMS, Flow offers a WhatsApp allowance of no more than 250MB on their 1 and 7 Day plans and 500MB on their 14 Day plan. Additionally Flow offers more minutes. Flows plans are better suited for someone who is a socialite, who often makes phone calls and isn’t interested too much data through apps outside of WhatsApp.

So which mobile plan should I choose?

As always, your choice comes down to need and budget. All of these plans mean that you need you have in excess of $90 a month to pay for them. If that is not possible, a data only or minutes only plan may be best for you. If money is not an issue, ask yourself what you often use your phone for?

Do you watch a lot of YouTube or Tik Tok videos? Do you spend a lot of time on Instagram and Facebook? If so, Digicel is a better option. You are getting more data for your money.

Do you take many phone calls and live on WhatsApp? Flow may be the better option for you. These plans carry the same amount or more minutes for less money!

Finally, If you have personal experience with both telecommunications companies, consider the stability of their service where you live and travel before you make up your mind.
